Of course, the company slogan ‘nutrients from a natural source, in the highest quality and purity’ does not qualify Sunday Natural to be included in our list of the ‘best manufacturers of food supplements’.
Sunday Natural has its own research and development department in Berlin, and was purely privately financed (and therefore independent) until 2024. The management team consists of naturopaths, nutritionists, therapists, herbalists and nutrient specialists.
Sunday Natural obtains its nutrients and active ingredients from natural, plant-based sources and in the most bioactive form. Where possible, ingredients are sourced from certified organic or pesticide-free cultivation. Where these cannot be obtained from natural sources, bioidentical raw materials are used.
According to the manufacturer, all ingredients are laboratory-tested and free from contamination by biocides, toxins or genetic manipulation.
Wherever possible, Sunday Natural relies on strict organic qualities or exclusive wild collections in unspoilt nature and only the gentlest possible extraction methods are used.
The natural food supplements are completely free from additives or controversial fillers. The capsule shells are also free from controversial additives.

How good is Sunday Natural?
Sunday Natural has made it onto our list of the best manufacturers of food supplements based on the quality criteria we have defined.
These include the absence of unnecessary additives and fillers (such as magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, nanoparticles (without legal exceptions), genetic engineering, artificial colours and flavours, titanium dioxide and added sugar and sweeteners), a clear and transparent procurement policy, regular checks on the quality of the ingredients and proven quality through laboratory tests.

Who is behind Sunday Natural?
Jan Gottschau and Dr Jörg Schweikart founded Sunday Natural in 2010. Their joint aim was to create a supplier of nutritional supplements that would meet their high standards of purity and quality. Since then, Sunday Natural has developed into a leading online shop offering a wide range of over 1,000 products, including high-quality vitamins, vital substances, superfoods and teas. The company’s success is based on a combination of expertise, passion and a firm commitment to offering only the best products for comprehensive health at a fair price.
Through their pricing strategy of offering a great value product in each category, Sunday Natural has been able to build a large customer base. Profits in 2021 totalled an impressive 12 million euros and are expected to reach 50 million euros in 2023.
The Berlin-based company is led by CEO Robert Bosch.
Who bought Sunday Natural?
The Berlin-based start-up Sunday Natural, which specialises in vitamins and food supplements, has been acquired by the financial investor CVC. The purchase was announced by CVC on Monday, without disclosing the exact purchase price. According to Bloomberg, the transaction values Sunday Natural at around 800 million euros, which is at the upper end of what investment bankers thought was realistic during the search for investors.
Although the exact purchase price has not been disclosed, it is reported that company founder Jörg Schweikart will retain a significant stake in Sunday Natural and will play an important role in the strategic development of the company. Through the partnership with CVC, Sunday Natural aims to accelerate growth and increase international expansion. Schweikart sees the collaboration with CVC as a milestone on the way to making Sunday Natural a globally recognised brand for science-based and nature-based nutrition.
In general, of course, we would have preferred Sunday Natural to remain privately financed, but it remains to be seen whether further growth will only have a positive effect on the company.
The entry of CVC was not only received positively by the user group. When Bayer bought Nature Love as a pharmaceutical company, this was a reason for us personally to no longer recommend this brand. It remains to be seen how Sunday Natural will develop. For now, we will continue to recommend the products and use them ourselves.
